Michelle Obama was a high school classmate of Santita Jackson, the daughter of Jesse Jackson. She has a major in sociology and minor in African American studies from Princeton University and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Harvard Law School. After completing her formal education, she returned to Chicago and accepted a position with the law firm Sidley Austin, where she met her future husband. Subsequently, she worked as part of the staff of Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley, "For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback."
